colophene (countable and uncountable, plural colophenes)

1. (obsolete)(chemistry) A colorless oily liquid, formerly obtained by distillation of colophony (rosin), regarded as a polymeric form of terebenthene.

Usage notes

Like its synonym diterebene, the term is unused in chemistry literature since the 19th century, where its chemical formula was given as C20H32
