From Middle English coltisfote, coltys fot, equivalent to colt +‎ -s- +‎ foot.

  1. An herbaceous plant, species Tussilago farfara, that grows in Europe and the Middle East.
  2. Various flowering plants in the genus Petasites;; native to Europe or Asia.
