Etymology

con- +‎ *quinisco, apparently from a Proto-Indo-European *kʷeǵ⁽ʰ⁾- (to flee), with no known cognates outside of Italic.[1] Compare quaccola (quail); has also been compared to Lithuanian kaktà (forehead).
