From Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰrúkš ~ *dʰrúǰʰás (deceit, offence), from Proto-Indo-European *dʰréwgʰ-s ~ *dʰrugʰ-és, from *dʰrewgʰ- (to deceive, mislead). Cognate with Avestan 𐬛𐬭𐬎𐬘 (druj, lie).
