des- +‎ ayunar, possibly corresponding to a Vulgar Latin *disieiunāre, from Late Latin ieiūnāre, present active infinitive of ieiūnō, from Latin ieiūnus. Compare English dine, French déjeuner, Occitan dejunar, Portuguese desjejuar.
