Compare Aromanian discultsu, Friulian discolç, Venetian descolz, Sardinian iscultzu; compare also Spanish descalzo, Portuguese descalço, Catalan descalç, French déchaux, Italian scalzo, from related roots *discalceus or *excalceus.
