From Proto-Albanian *dhH̥₁-teH₂, from Proto-Indo-European *dheH₁-, *dhH̥₁- 'to place put'. Cognate to Ancient Greek τίθημι ‎(títhēmi, to place), Latin facio ‎(I do, make), Lithuanian dėti ‎(to put), Sanskrit दधाति ‎(dádhāti), Old English dōn ‎(to do).
