- (zoology) A mollusk of the genus Distorsio, or its shell.
- 1998, Jackie Leatherbury Douglass, Peterson First Guide to Shells of North America[1], page 26:
- Distorsios, which also belong to this group, have many fierce-looking teeth and a smaller operculum.

- Common shells include frog-shells, distorsios, volutes, tulips, murex, cones, olives, marginellas, cowries, augers and the Florida horse conch, the state's official shell, which can grow up to 24in (6 1 cm) long.
