From Proto-Turkic *dur- (to stand) [1] Cognate with Turkish durmak, Turkmen durmak, Crimean Tatar turmak, Uzbek turmoq, Uyghur تۇرماق (turmaq), Kazakh тұру (tūru), Tatar turu, Chuvash тӑр (tăr).
