From Old Irish echtraid (goes out, departs; banishes, exiles).

eachtraigh (present analytic eachtraíonn, future analytic eachtróidh, verbal noun eachtrú, past participle eachtraithe)

  1. (intransitive) to fare forth, journey
  2. (literary, transitive) to put out, expel, banish
