eelgrass (countable and uncountable, plural eelgrasses)

  1. Any of several species of aquatic plant, with very long and narrow leaves
    1. Zostera spp. in marine environments
      1. especially Zostera marina, growing abundantly in shallow bays along the North Atlantic coast
    2. Vallisneria spp. in freshwater environments.
