Via some other European language, ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin oeconomia, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek οἰκονομία (oikonomía, management of a household, administration), from οἶκος (oîkos, house) and νόμος (nómos, law).
