Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese enojar (to anger), from Vulgar Latin *inodiāre, present active infinitive of inodiō (I make hateful), from Latin odium (hatred). Compare ódio.

Cognate with Catalan enutjar, Galician anoxar, Spanish enojar, Italian annoiare, French ennuyer and English annoy.
