Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese estorvar, either from Latin exturbāre, present active infinitive of exturbō or from Old Portuguese destorvar, from disturbō, disturbāre. Compare Spanish estorbar, and also Catalan and Occitan destorbar, Old French destorber.
