Pronunciation
[edit]
Phrase
[edit]- I love you (affirmation of romantic feeling)
- I love you (affection and caring of family members or friends)
Usage notes
[edit]- The pronoun te may be placed before or after the verb amo. The former placement is mostly used by Brazilian speakers, and the latter, elsewhere.
- The pronoun eu is often omitted: te amo, amo-te. But Brazilians, in formal contexts, may not omit it clause-initially (where a proclitic is proscribed) as an enclitic would be odd.
