Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin faldistorium, faldestorium, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old High German faldstuol, faldan, faltan (“to fold”) (German falten) + stuol (“stool”), so called because it could be folded or laid together.
