Spanish

Etymology

From the phrase hágame el favor de (literally "do me the favor of"; "if you please").

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /faˈboɾ de/ [faˈβ̞oɾ ð̞e]

Preposition

favor de

  1. please (used before the infinitive of a verb)
    Favor de traerme un café.
    Bring me a coffee, please.

Usage notes

Unlike por favor, favor de may only be used at the beginning of a clause. Favor de is also more polite.
