  1. (music) Any of several lute-like stringed instruments of Asian origin.
    1. A double-chambered bowl lute used by the Iranian and Baloch people, with three or four strings and a short neck without frets.
    2. A spike lute used in Afghanistan and throughout Central Asia, often featuring a tin can for a soundbox.
