gosar
Catalan
Etymology
From Old Catalan osar, from Lua error in Module:etymology at line 156: Old Occitan (pro) is not set as an ancestor of Catalan (ca) in Module:languages/data/2. The ancestor of Catalan is Old Catalan (roa-oca). (compare Occitan ausar), from Vulgar Latin *ausō, *ausāre (compare French oser, Spanish osar), a frequentative verb formed from ausus, perfect active participle of Latin audeō, from Proto-Italic *awidēō (“to be greedy, want very much”). The initial -g- became appended to resolve the hiatus or syllable break between two vowels- e.g. no (g)osar[1].
