Learned borrowing from Latin grammatica, ellipsis of ars grammatica, a partial calque of Ancient Greek γραμματική τέχνη (grammatikḗ tékhnē, art of letters), from γραμματικός (grammatikós, of letters). Doublet of grimório and glamour.
