Latvian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Via other European languages, ultimately borrowed from English international (apparently coined in 1780 by Jeremy Bentham from Latin inter (between) and New Latin nationalis), adapted to follow Latvian patterns ( +‎ -āls).
