Etymology[edit]

From Dalmatian [Term?] (compare Dalmatian kawsa (thing)), from Latin causa.[1] As in the source language, the word originally meant "thing," but it later shifted to "animal" by influence from gjë (thing), specifically gjë e gjallë ("animal"), literally "living thing".
