Klepus

Etymology

From the same stem as Latvian klabēt (to rumble, to rattle) (q.v.), but with an extra -p. Originally, this word was probably the description of a sound; compare (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lithuanian interjection klèpt! and verbs klepčióti, klepuóti, klapsė́ti (to rumble, to rattle, to knock). Cognates include Lithuanian klepùs (contentious, quarrelsome).[1]
