linear metre (plural linear metres)

  1. (British spelling) A standard unit of length, symbol m, equal to one metre in length.

Usage notes[edit]

Primarily used for building materials, as a unit of amount (not distance), particularly in contrast with square metre. For example, 2 linear metres of 50 centimetre wide board is 1 square metre of board.
