Hungarian[edit]

Pronunciation[edit]

Phrase[edit]

mi újság?

  1. what's up? what's new? what's going on? what's happening?
Synonyms: (all are slang forms) mizu, mizujs, mizus

Usage notes[edit]

  • Although it is used without an article today, formerly it also occurred with the article az before újság (mi az újság),[1][2] which gave rise to the z found in present-day slang contractions.
  • Mi? may function as a pronoun (with the past tense mi volt az újság?) or a determiner (with the past tense mi újság volt?).
