Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese nin (h)ũu, earlier nen (h)ũu, from Latin nec ūnus (not even one). Displaced collateral form ningũu. Compare Galician ningún, Spanish ninguno, Catalan ningú and dialectal French dégun.
