[edit]From Ottoman Turkish نسنه (nesene, nesne, “thing, object”), from Old Anatolian Turkish نسنه (nesne, nesene), نسه (nese), from Proto-Turkic *nē erse. Morphologically ne + ise + ne.
Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (nerse, “thing”), Kazakh нәрсе (närse, “thing”), Azerbaijani nəsə, etc.
