Particularly: “In de Rhodes' dictionary, there's the compound nghè miéu (modern spelling nghè miếu), glossed "caſa do diabo que adorão na aldea" ("house of devil in the village for worshipping"). Christian sentiment towards local beliefs aside, at an earlier date, this word thus seems to refer to a small/village place of worship.”
