  1. absolutely nothing, none of something.
    He said he would get in touch, but it's been over a week and not a sausage.
    • John: Do you know how I get to the town center from here?
    • Jill: Not a sausage I'm afraid, I'm just visiting.
    I've just looked through our accounts, and it's not good. We've got nothing, not a sausage.

Usage notes[edit]

  • This is normally used to imply nothing of something specific. In the examples above, the "sausage"s are "communication", "ideas", and "money".
