From the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Byzantine Greek φαγ- (phag-), perfective stem of ἔφαγον (éphagon, “I ate; I devoured”), singular first-person aorist active indicative form (by suppletion) of ἐσθίω (esthíō, “I eat; I devour”).
