pleurodesis (countable and uncountable, plural pleurodeses)

  1. (surgery) The production of adhesions in the pleural cavity, typically by the use of sclerosing agents or surgical abrasion, used especially in the treatment of recurrent pneumothorax, pleural effusion and chylothorax.
    1. (rare) The condition created by this procedure: adhesion between the parietal and visceral pleurae.
