    1. The habit or characteristic of doing things without delay.
    2. Adherence to a designated time.
      • 1927, Ernest Bramah, Max Carrados Mysteries:
        Miss Frensham evidently did foresee some satisfaction in talking about it, for she came at once. In view of her circumstances, Carrados could not but deem her rather extravagant, for nothing but a taxi from door to door could explain the promptness of her arrival.
