Etymology

rhabdo- +‎ -mancy, first attested in 1646. From Latin rhabdomantīa, from Ancient Greek ῥαβδομαντεία (rhabdomanteía), from ῥάβδος (rhábdos, rod) + μαντεία (manteía, divination).
