Lithuanian

Etymology

Cognate to Latvian sar̂gs (watchman, guard), Old Prussian butsargs (housekeeper), possibly apisorx (kingfisher) < ape (river) + *sorgs. Presumably related to (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Slavic *stȏržь (guard), see sérgėti for further discussion.
