From Middle French scénique, from Latin scēnicus, alternative form of scaenicus (“of or pertaining to the stage; theatrical, scenic”), from Ancient Greek σκηνικός (skēnikós, “theatrical”), from σκηνή (skēnḗ, “stage”).
