Noun

scoreline (plural scorelines)

  1. A line in a newspaper or other publication giving the score in a sports match
  2. (sports) The score at the end of, of during, a match or game.
    • 2011 November 11, Rory Houston, “Estonia 0-4 Republic of Ireland”, in RTE Sport[1]:
A stunning performance from the Republic of Ireland all but sealed progress to Euro 2012 as they crushed nine-man Estonia 4-0 in the first leg of the qualifying play-off tie in A Le Coq Arena in Tallinn. The scoreline did not flatter Ireland who's produced a composed, classy and determined showing that will go down as the highlight of the Giovanni Trapattioni era so far.
    • 2023 December 1, Emma Sanders, “England 3-2 Netherlands”, in BBC Sport[2]:
England will qualify for the semi-finals if they beat Scotland on Tuesday and the Netherlands drop points in their final match with Belgium.
However, even if the Netherlands beat Belgium at home, England could still go through if they defeat the Scots by a sufficiently large scoreline to take their goal difference above the Dutch.
