spring hook (plural spring hooks)

  1. (fishing) An angler's snap-hook or spear-hook.
  2. A latch or door-hook with a spring-catch for keeping it fast in the staple.
  3. (locomotive engines) One of the hooks which fix the driving-wheel spring to the frame.
