Presumably imitative. Connected to Polish kichać, Russian чихать ‎(čixatʹ), Lithuanian čiáudėti, Sanskrit क्षु ‎(kṣu), Breton strevia and Ancient Greek πταρμός ‎(ptarmós, a sneezing).
