  1. Saying something as precisely as possible; using a strict sense of a word.

    This recipe calls for three kinds of fruit: strawberries, cherries, and rhubarb. Well, strictly speaking, rhubarb is a vegetable.
    Consensus means "a view or opinion that is generally shared," so expressions such as consensus of opinion are, strictly speaking, tautologies.
