ton mileage (countable and uncountable, plural ton mileages)

  1. The total ton miles achieved by a freight carrier in a given period.
    • 1963 September, “French Railways' quarter-century of expansion”, in Modern Railways, page 189:
In 1929, the most prosperous year before the war, the combined freight ton-mileage of the six railways then operating was 26,000m, but it dropped to 16,000m in 1938, partly because of the growth of road transport and partly because of some industrial recession, due largely to the international situation.
