From Proto-Balto-Slavic *óʔgaʔ, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ógeh₂. Cognate with Latvian oga, Russian я́года (jágoda), Gothic 𐌰𐌺𐍂𐌰𐌽 (akran).[1]
