Estonian

Etymology

From Middle Low German verwe, varwe. Compare Finnish väri, Swedish färg, Norwegian farge, Danish farve, Dutch verf and German Farbe. All derived from Proto-Germanic *farwō, from Proto-Indo-European *per-, *perḱ- (motley, coloured). Distant cognate with Latin pulcher (beauty).
