From Javanese ꦮꦝꦸꦏ꧀ (wadhuk). Cognate of Balinese ᬯᬤᬸᬓ᭄ (waduk, “stomach”).

- reservoir: a large natural or artificial lake used as a source of water supply.
- water tower: a large tank of water, in an elevated position, acting as a local reservoir; water is pumped into the tank and fed by gravity to the consumers.
