Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *diš-ūd-tja, a similar formation to mbys, from Proto-Indo-European *wed- (water).[1] Alternatively, to be compared with Lithuanian žū́ti (perish), žudýti (slay), Latvian zùdu (disappear, get lost), zaudêt (lose), Middle Irish gúas (danger, peril, jeopardy).
