Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The etymology is unexplained. It must be rejected the suggestion of Solmsen, who reconstructs a word for "penis" and connects Lithuanian tvìnstu (“to swell out (of a river)”), and connects other word with σα-, like σάτυρος (sáturos, “satyr”).
