أَوْفَى (ʔawfā) IV (non-past يُوفِي (yūfī), verbal noun إِيفَاء (ʔīfāʔ))

  1. to pay in full [with accusative ‘an amount’ and accusative ‘to someone’]
  2. to fulfill, to keep [with accusative or بِ (bi) ‘a promise, etc.’]
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 76:07:
      يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا
      yūfūna bi-n-naḏri wayaḵāfūna yawman kāna šarruhu mustaṭīran
      They fulfil their vows and fear a Day where evil will abound.
