Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘁𑘃𑘎𑘜𑘹 (āīkaṇe) (compare Ardhamagadhi Prakrit 𑀆𑀇𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀇 (āikkhaï), Pali ācikkhati, related to Maharastri Prakrit 𑀅𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀸𑀇 (akkhāi) from Sanskrit आख्याति (ākhyāti)). Cognate with Konkani ऐक्चे (aikce).
