Cognate with Old Church Slavonic рѣзати (rězati), Ukrainian різати (rizaty), Bulgarian режа (reža), Serbo-Croatian резати, Slovenian rezati, Czech řezat, Slovak rezať, Polish rzezać, Upper Sorbian rězać, Lower Sorbian rězaś, and Ancient Greek ῥήγνυμι (rhḗgnumi).
