Bulgarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Per BER, contracted from earlier стору́вам (storúvam, to do, to make) < *sъtvorovati. Formally matching Proto-Slavic *struvati would have probably meant “to disperse, to diffuse” (as attested in related causative Old Church Slavonic остроуꙗти (ostrujati, to refute)).
