[edit]Provisionally inherited from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *twak (“to calculate, count, tally”); cognate with Tedim Chin tuak (STEDT). Said root may be connected to Proto-Sino-Tibetan *m-twa (“handspan”), in which case see Old Chinese 度 (OC *daːɡs, *daːɡ, “degree, capacity”) for more.
